Categories, Types, Products how they different?

Can someone please define the difference between categories, types, and products?

Or give an example?

In the world of real estate it generally goes like this:

Category would be either for rent or for sale, and then
possibly:

commercial for rent
residential for rent
Condominium for sale
Building for sale

If Category is for rent or fore sale, and types are as stated above, then what the heck is product?

Products: the houses
A category can have types

category =commercial type: for rent
category = commercial for rent, type=appartment

Etc.
